Some tournaments are measured by scores. Others are measured by time.
Since 2019, the Midwest Masters has become a little of both.
It is a golf tournament, certainly. There is a champion to be crowned, a leaderboard to follow and a day of competition that asks every player to bring whatever game he has with him. But over the years, it has become something more.
A reunion.
A gathering of friends.
A Saturday circled on the calendar not only for the golf that will be played, but for everything that comes with it.
The familiar faces.
The stories that seem to get better with age.
The laughs between shots.
The drinks and memories shared along the way.
And today, that tradition returns.
At Cambridge Golf Course, the players of Edwards County Golf Club will once again make their way to the first tee for the Midwest Masters.
Some will arrive thinking about winning. Some will hope to simply find a few fairways. After all, though the the many reasons this day has become special, there is still a tournament to play.
The round will be a journey, unfolding over a few hours at one of Southern Indiana’s finest courses. And as the sun gets low in the Indiana sky this evening, another chapter in the Tournament’s history will have been told.
The 2026 winner will be adorned with that iconic green jacket, celebrating his accomplishment as the best on this day. The group photo will commemorate this year’s class of competitors, and the stage will be set for an evening of food, beers, and friendship.
This morning, all of that lies ahead.
The first tee is calling.
Old friends are together again.
And before the day is done, there will be more memories to carry into next year.
Since 2019, that has been the tradition.
